Samsungs 10.1 inch Galaxy Tab may not be available here yet but pre-orders have already begun in Australia with Vodafone leading the way. The site is offering up the 10.1V in an exclusive deal for the slimmed down version of the 10.1 inch tablet which will start shipping on 1st May.
Vodafone had previously set up an alert system for early adopters and have since sent out an email informing them that they can now pre-order and claim a book cover case free of charge. They will also be able to place their order one day before the rest of the public giving them a better chance of receiving their tablet on release day.
Vodafone is offering three purchasing options, with a up front cost of $729 (roughly £470), a 12 month deal offers a $259 (£159) up front combined with $39 a month contract (25) and a 24 month deal offers a free tablet with the same contract costs.
The new 10.1v will be powered by Samsung’s own 1GHz dual core processor and run the new tablet based Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system. After a comment from Samsung’s Senior VP they decided to thin down the tablet to compete with the iPad 2’s form factor.
The Australian release date of the 10.1 inch tab actually coincides with the UK release date of the Samsung Galaxy II Smartphone; perhaps the UK will also see the launch of Samsung’s new tablet on the 1st May. However there are no official details on release date or price yet, we will keep you posted.
