A website in New Zealand claims that they have the release date of Apple’s highly-anticipated iPhone 5 smartphone.
TechDay.co.nz said that an unidentified source revealed that the Cupertino-based tech giant planned to release its much-awaited, though still unconfirmed, smartphone on October 9th in New Zealand.
“Now, with fans clamouring for news of the iPhone 5, Techday has learned from a source within Apple that the device will be launched here in New Zealand on October 9,” said the report.
Many believed that the fifth-generation iPhone will arrive in September, and this theory has strengthened after the resignation of Steve Jobs as the chief executive officer of Apple last week. No announcement from the company has been made yet.
The New Zealand website hasn’t been a big source for Apple rumors, so it is still to be seen if it is trustworthy. The said release date falls on a Sunday, which seems a bit strange as last year’s iPhone 4 was launched on a Friday.
