Could Zelda be the saviour of the Wii U games console? Nintendo has confirmed that the Legend of Zelda action game will hit the console next year.

A short trailer of the game has been revealed and analysts are already wondering whether this title could be the one to finally make the console more popular with gamers across the world. It is expected that a lot of gamers will buy the console just for this game.

The launch of the Zelda game on the Wii U is going to be timed to coincide with the 2015 E3 games show in Los Angeles.

As well as this, Nintendo has also given out some details on the amiibos they are going to be bringing out. There are add-on physical toys that will be able to interact with games such as Super Smash Bros 4.

Poor Sales So Far

Nintendo’s projected sales for figure for the console suggested that they would shift over 9 million of them in the year up to the end of March 2014. However, the total sold was well under 3 million, with Nintendo posting losses largely on the back of these poor sales.

The problems with the Wii U’s low sales figures are compounded by the fact that a lot of the major third-party games developers are now holding off from working on new games until more consoles are sold.

The word from Nintendo is that the fantasy world themed Zelda title will give a “clean break” from the past as players will be able to travel in the way they want and not having to carry out tasks and scenarios in a fixed order.

Would you buy one of these consoles to play The Legend of Zelda?
