A new study has revealed that Angry birds has managed a gargantuan 7 million downloads, that’s not multi-platform either – downloads only focus on Android users. That’s pretty impressive when you consider the full version of the game only launched on the Android Market place on October 15th 2010.
The Android version came after the lucrative success on iOS devices, users couldn’t get enough of the strategic game which required players to carefully fire different types of birds at structures to destroy them and ultimately kill their pesky pig enemies. The game is still a huge success now with recent themed level packs for Halloween and a free updated version coming in time for Christmas.
The runaway success on Android can also be attributed to the fact that it was made available free on GetJar. In fact the App was so popular that the GetJar website actually crashed on more than one occasion trying to cope with the initial download of 1 million downloads in the first three days.
If you were one of the Angry Birds fans to purchase the Halloween version you will be happy to hear that you will receive the free Christmas levels in the very near future. We can’t wait!
