The competition between Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android heats up today as T3 announces its list of nominees for the T3 Gadget Awards 2011.
Steve Jobs’ Apple devices gets 15 nominations, while Google and its Android operating system gets 18.
The Apple iPad 2 gets six nominations, including overall Gadget of the Year, and it is going against Amazon’s Kindle for Commuter Gadget of the Year. The iPad 2 is also nominated for the Tablet of the Year award, where Apple devices control more than 80 percent of the market.
The iPhone 4 is nominated for four awards, including the Phone of the Year category, where it faces off against other top smartphones like the HTC Sensation and the powerful Samsung Galaxy S II.
The Nintendo 3DS is also nominated for four awards, including the Gaming Gadget of the Year, where it goes up against Sony PlayStation’s Move, Apple’s iPad 2, Microsoft Xbox 360’s Kinect and Alienware M17x.
Motorola’s Atrix is nominated for the Innovation of the Year award. The Atrix, which is considered as the “laptop killer,” held the top spot at the T3 Hot 100 earlier this year.
