Apple investigating iPad 2 3G Reception Problems

Apple has been forced to acknowledge problems with the Verizon iPad 2 3G tablet after much public outcry and posting on the official and in many cases unofficial Apple forums. The problem knocks out the 3G network on some Verizon iPad 2’s which in many cases has been linked to Facetime and other apps that rely heavily on a solid connection.

Apple is said to be actively investigating the problem and many predict iOS 4.3.2 will be released within the next two weeks as Apple try to stop the issue developing into another antennagate, the ‘death grip’ that kills iPhone 4 signal if held in a particular way. Apple has been quick to point out that only ‘a small number’ of Verizon customers have been affected.

Apple explained their actions to allthingsd: “We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it.” Thankfully other networks and indeed Wi-Fi versions of the iPad 2 on the Verizon network seem to be unaffected.

UK owners have yet to voice any large scale problems with iPad 2 3G data in the UK, Apple says they are working with the affected network (Verizon) to fix the problems. All signs seem to point towards this being a Verizon/Apple problem and not a Apple iPad 2 problem which means it should be easier to remedy.

As you know it’s still fairly difficult to get hold of a new iPad 2 in the UK but if you are one of the lucky ones have you experienced any problems? 3G related or otherwise?
