Apple iPad 3 could go 3D

Hollywood is known for creating blockbuster films, incredible stories and it seems wild theories surrounding the Apple iPad 3. A Hollywood insider has been speaking to RCR Wireless saying this about the iPad 3: “The fact that the iPad 3 is 3D is a dead cert”, that’s one bold claim but one they say is backed up by Foxconn employees who manufacture Apple products.

The ‘insider’ explained that film studios were “currently running around like blue-arsed flies trying to gear up to release plenty of 3-D content in time for Apple’s next launch” which seems to suggest that Hollywood know something that the rest of us don’t. Apple has yet to comment on the rumour and to be honest we’d doubt they will.

This is not the first time 3D and the Cupertino brand have been mentioned at the same time. A recent Apple 3D patent showcased how new technology could allow users to view 3D content from multiple angles without the need for glasses in full HD, a trait which the Nintendo 3DS does not possess. If Apple were to roll out 3D it would undoubtedly be glasses free and offer 2d functionality too.

Despite the RCR source saying it is a ‘dead cert’ we’d advise you not to get too excited yet, yes there are patents and yes Foxconn employees may have confirmed it but at this stage these rumours remain just that, rumours. Hopefully we will a few more snippets over the coming weeks.

Do you think Apple should include 3D on the iPad 3?

The iPad can be held at any angle, landscape or portrait. That of course isn't compatible with the current display technologies that do 3D without glasses.
