Apple leaks iPod touch 3G on their own Website

Over the past couple of weeks we have been hearing more and more about a proposed 3G enabled iPod touch. Obviously Apple has yet to comment, but that hasn’t stopped them leaking an image of the new iPod touch complete with 3G on their own website.

The image above was snapped from the UK facing website, although it was on the US facing site earlier in the day. Apple is pushing their iCloud service, which would be all but useless on an iPod without 3G if there was no Wi-Fi available.

Some have argued the point for and against a 3G iPod, some feel it would be too close for comfort for iPhone owners. Why would they want to buy an iPhone when a 3G iPod is available? It seems we will have to wait until the official release date.

This will probably be alongside the iPhone 5 and iOS 5 in September, if the latest rumours are correct.

Do you think Apple should make the next iPod 3G enabled?

This is probably not a leak. Apple had done this before; putting iPod touch screenshots on iPhones on accident: http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/06/apple-sucks-at

yeah, good call Jordan. Apple is known for making gaffs all the time, there has been some code found in iOS 5 though that points to a 3G enabled iPod. We will have to wait and see.
