Recently iPhone 5 rumors have been showing up on a daily basis, the latest iPhone rumor suggests that a cheaper iPhone 4 model is on the way. While fans await the unveiling and launch of the iPhone 5, Reuters pulled the attention back to the current mobile phone. The report said in the next few weeks, the Cupertino tech giant will introduce a less expensive version of the fourth-generation iPhone.
The revised iPhone 4 model will have 8 GB of storage, a lot smaller compared to the 16 GB and 32 GB versions that are available now. The pared down specs could help the company target developing countries and markets, where people aren’t opting to spend money on a new phone.
“Apple may want to push into the emerging market segment where customers want to switch to low- to mid-end smartphones from high-end feature phones, which usually cost $150-200,” said Bonnie Chang, an analyst from Yuanta Securities. “But I think for an 8GB iPhone 4 the price is hard to go below $200, so Apple will still need a completely new phone with low specifications for the emerging markets.”
Some analysts have stated that a less-expensive iPhone risks cannibalizing the company’s premium iPhone model, but it needs to launch a phone to expand its share in the emerging market. It is said that the flash drive for the new iPhone 4 model is being manufactured by a company in South Korea.
Is this the rumored cheaper iPhone model to be released alongside the iPhone 5?
