Are Frequent Playstation Network Updates Pleasing Gamers?

After a rocky week it finally seems that Sony are pleasing gamers and its not even put the Playstation Network back online yet. The PSN network has been down for over a week now and the main source of annoyance hasn’t been the downtime, it hasn’t even been the loss of 2.2 million credit card numbers but instead it has been the complete lack of updates, until now.

Updates coming thick and fast

Two days ago the PSN blog rolled out their first question and answer session which predictably threw up a whole lot more but instead of running for the hills a response was made the very next day. So what has been revealed?

We now know that friends, history and settings remains unaffected by the intrusion, all will be restored once the network is back up and running. PSN also explained that trophies, achievements and even cloud saves will be re synced with no data being lost. So once the Playstation network is back up all should be the same as before, well without the security risks.

Compensation?

Over the last week there has been a lot of talk of wasted money spent on DC Online and Free Realms subscriptions, gamers have been asking whether they will receive a refund for their loss. The simple answer is no you will not; you will however receive exclusive access to some ‘special events’ to thank you for, as Sony puts it “extraordinary patience” whilst the PSN Network remains down.

But what about all the other PSN network users, will they get anything? Sony says they are “currently evaluating ways to show appreciation for your extraordinary patience as we work to get these services back online.” So no clear indication but they are at least thinking about ways to pay back PSN users, it won’t be cold hard cash though based on the above.

Are you happy with the frequency of Sony’s updates?

A free DL of the new Final Fantasy IV for PSP would be pretty good. Then again, not everyone has a PSP so I suppose that's out of the question 😉 who knows.

Your doing a great job Sony keep it up think of it this way you guys may have lost alot of money due to the lawsuit and due to the fact that psn has been down bring the ratings down but when the psn is back up and running with the extra candy you guys gave it your going to make hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of milions of dollars and the ratings and stock are going to go throug the roof reaching
