A few weeks ago, the Atari Arcade Duo Joystick by Atari and Discovery Bay Games was featured in a number of tech sites. Now, the gaming company is proud to announce the availability of the device that can be used to play classic arcade games on your Apple iPad and iPad 2.
The Atari Arcade Joystick boasts a retro design, complete with four buttons and an analog joystick. This cool device is suited for the Atari’s Greatest Hits app, which has been downloaded over three million times on Apple’s App Store.
The device acts like a dock for the iPad. Users just have to slide the iPad in the device, open the Atari’s Greatest Hits app and enjoy playing classic arcade games. The Arcade Joystick lets users enjoy games, like Asteroids, Missile Command and Centipede. Unlike the iCade that uses Bluetooth to connect to the iPad, the Atari Arcade Joystick connects via the 30-pin dock connector. This means that it will offer less battery drain and a faster response time, for a better gaming experience.
“We’ve worked closely with Atari to ensure this controller is optimized to the fullest extent for each game offered in their app,” said Discovery Bay Games Chief Executive Officer Craig Olson. “We’ve designed the Atari Arcade so that it delivers a cool-factor for today’s digital gamer that’s both nostalgic and sleek.”
The Atari Arcade Duo Joystick is available now at Discovery Bay Games for $60, and will be available in Apple Stores in November.
