The Angry Birds games franchise seems to have been about forever but there is still life in the format yet.
The previous game – Angry Birds Star Wars – proved to be hugely successful, which means that we shouldn’t be too surprised to discover that the next instalment is going to be called Angry Birds Star Wars II.
Lots of New Characters
The developer of this series of games is Rovio and the Finnish software company expects to get the new game out on the 19th of September. As with the previous versions of Angry Birds, it will be available for a variety of different mobile devices. It is said to be based on the 3 different prequels to the original to the original Star Wars movies and will bring in a number of new characters in the total of over 30 who will form part of the action.
The big news, though, is that there is a twist in the way you can play Star Wars II. As well as being the classic bird characters, players can also choose to play as the pigs, for the first time in the series.
Another new feature of the new games is the fact that Rovio is going to be teaming up with Hasbro to bring in all new Telepods figures at the same time the game is released. These are designed to transport real life figures of Angry Birds into the gameplay.
The press release from Rovio explains how the “new characters and super powers” can be obtained by putting a collectable Telepods figure onto the mobile device the player is using and “scanning it into the game”. What do you reckon? Will these birdies and piggies be strong with the force?
