Best Buy, a United States-based retailer, has slashed $50 off the selling price of the Apple iPad 2 tablet, making it a clear indication that Apple will ship the much-awaited third-generation iPad very soon in the country.

With the third iPad offering expected to be announced next week, the retailer cut all iPad 2 models’ prices by $50 on Sunday. Retailers often decrease their prices on older electronics models to clear its stocks, so this move by Best Buy shows that Apple may have a new iPad model in their hands.

Other news show signs that a new iPad will soon arrive, including news that a shipping manifest published by Apple.pro reveals that Foxconn is getting ready to ship the new tablets to the United States. These shipments, which are under heavily guarded, are expected to reach New York, Los Angeles and Chicago by March 9, just a few days after Apple will make its announcement.

The Cupertino tech giant has not yet made any comments on what features the iPad 3 will have, but a lot of talks online claim that the new tablet will have a retina display that will double the screen resolution of the first two iPad models, which both have 1024 x 768 resolution screens.

Other sources claim that the iPad 3 will be powered by a dual-core A5X chip, not a quad-core A6 chip, and it will have a bigger and better camera.
