Apple could launch a new version of the iPad 2 this year, says an analyst from FBR Capital. In an interview by the International Business Times, FBR Capital analyst Craig Berger cited contacts in the overseas supply chain of Apple that a so-called “iPad 2 Plus” could be released by Apple this year. He said that Apple has sent out request of quotes to suppliers for such a device. The report said that the iPad 2 Plus could have 250 to 300 pixels per inch (ppi). The iPad 2 has a pixel density of 132 ppi. This news follows up last...

On Monday Apple unveiled iOS 5 and announced that the developer version of the brand new operating system was available. Since then we have seen a number of legitimate uses and a couple of jailbreaks too. Today, 9 to 5 Mac have posted a video of the Apple iPad 2 running the developer version of iOS 5, and it looks awesome.   The video begins with the lock screen, which up until now has been pretty functionless apart from being a decent lock screen! It shows new notifications that pop up on the lock screen, to view the items users...

At the gadget show live we saw our fair share of rear covers for the iPad 2, at the time our pick of the bunch was the one from EasiSkins. This week Proporta sent us their latest offering and we have reviewed their hard shell back cover for the iPad 2 (a bit of a mouthful we know but it really does explain what it does). The first thing to note is that Proporta provide very minimal packaging with their products, we like this because it is eco-friendly and allows for quick and easy access to their products. We felt it best to review the...

Musicians and iPad lovers rejoice, gone are the days of precariously balancing your iPad 2 on your music stand because iKlip can be retrofitted to any music stand to hold an iPad 2 and original iPad securely and most importantly at an optimal angle. It costs £29.99 and is available from the official iKlip website. The iKlip uses four snap on adapters to hold the iPad 2 with a bracket that also snaps into position on the music or mic stand. Otterbox is known for building some of the most robust Smartphone, tablet and mobile device cases around and the guys from the states have been busy creating a brand new, slimmed down version for the Apple iPad 2. Although the case isn’t actually available to buy quite yet a message has informed customers it will be shipping soon and Otterbox TV has also posted a video showcasing its main features. The new defender case is one fifth lighter than the previous version but despite this will still be one of the more bulkier cases on the...

One of the main downfalls of the Apple iPad 2 smart case is the fact that it only covers the front of the tablet. Granted the innovative way it puts the iPad into hibernation and wakes it up again with a flick of cover is great but we don’t like the grubby marks and scratches the rear of the tablet is exposed to. So we were very impressed to find this prototype from easiskins at the Gadget Show Live.   We spoke to Richard Rogers, the head honcho of easiskins to find out a little more about this iPad 2 life saver. He told us that...

If you love using your iPad or iPad 2 and enjoy using Adobe Photoshop then you are in luck. Adobe has just taken the wraps off some new iPad apps which have been launched around the same time as the appearance of the new Photoshop Software Development Kit and which will let you integrate your work with the new version of Photoshop. The most exciting looking new app is called Eazel and this one lets you paint using your fingers and a paint that dries virtually on the screen. You can then pass your work to Photoshop. Apart from this there...

The Apple iPad 2 may have been out in the wild for nearly a month in the US but supply is still outstripping demand, this is partly due the lack of components along the supply chain and partly due to some underhand tactics by retailers. Apple in the US is not too happy with Best Buy stores after they discovered the retailer was refusing to sell the iPad 2 despite having stock. Best Buy has reportedly been telling customers they have sold out of the second gen tablets as soon as their daily sales quota has been filled, this has prompted...

A patent application could be the clue to some exciting iPad changes on the way for people who want to make their own websites as simply as possible and wherever they want to. The web designer known as iWeb is a Mac program but Apple has recently put in a patent form which seems to show that the iPad will soon host a version which will “work with gestures”. No release date is known for the iWeb application on the iPad, or even if it will actually happen at all, but it seems that Apple is serious enough about the possibility of doing...
