With all the hot weather of late, we were pleased when Dyson agreed to send us their brand new fan to review. The Dyson Hot and Cool is a heater and fan built in one, which carries the same ultra modern styling as other Dyson products. Needless to say it costs a pretty penny too, so we thought it right to compare it to a £24.99 run-of-the-mill fan in terms of design, functionality and performance. Design Dyson is renowned for creating products that look great and the Hot and Cold is no exception. It comes in beautiful no nonsense packaging...

When Jill.e contacted me to review a bag I was initially shocked. You see Jill.e are renowned for creating gadget bags specifically for women, but their latest range is aimed at men and women. Some are even manlier than man bags, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one called Jeremy (okay, just saying that didn’t sound that manly but I stand by my excitement). Using the Jill.e Jeremy Bag In the past I’ve found it difficult to get excited about laptop bags, it’s basically a transport vessel after all. The Jill.e...
Gear4 has grown massively over the past few years; both in stature and the variety of products they offer. They’ve sent their latest StreetParty 5 speaker dock for the iPhone 5 for us to review, but will it live up to the already established HouseParty and StreetParty 4 docks? What you get – 1 x StreetParty Dock – 1 X power adapter – Instruction manual Audio on the move Gear4 hasn’t really chosen the most suitable name for a portable product as the name StreetParty makes it sound like an all...
Seasonal Affective Disorder, AKA SAD, is a medical condition suffered during times of shortened daylight hours. As the UK has a long, dreary winter it affects a higher percentage of the population than other countries. The NHS Choices website pins this number at roughly 2 million people, or 3.5% of the country. So how can it be treated? There’s no conclusive line of treatment but studies have shown that therapy, antidepressants and light therapy can all help alleviate symptoms. Over the past few weeks we’ve been reviewing a lamp which...
The recent weather has been a real downer but has at least provided great conversation material (it’s kind of our thing in Britain). It has also provided ample opportunity to test drive some new winter technology and over the past three weeks we’ve looked at touchscreen gloves. We’ve been to Iceland and back in the meantime too, narrowing down two of the best pairs in the process. Agloves – Gloves with a silver lining Smart phones are great but come with a major winter hindrance because most won’t play well...
We’ve been challenged to some awesome things in the past. One of the most memorable has to be testing some Panasonic cameras to destruction at Go Ape last year. This week we’ve been sent a much tamer one that’s thankfully all indoors. Fujitsu has sent their latest 1500M Scansnap scanner for us to test over the next three weeks. This week we’re...
How do you prop your iPad u whilst using it? On a cushion, chair leg or on your knee is the usual answer which can be uncomfortable after a while. The obvious answer up until now has been to stand it on a desk using your smart cover or whack it in a dock, again both of these solutions have their problems. This week I received IPEVO’s PadPillow (formally known as the iPad Cushi) and it claims to solve of these problems. From the photos i’ve seen this seems to be the case but only several hours of ‘working’ with the...
Over the past ten years or so digital cameras have come a long way and for a time tripods languished behind. There wasn’t a good range for mainstream users and this meant shakey shots and one armed portrait photos of you and a loved one were the only way to snap. Nowadays this has changed thanks to the likes of Joby and their epic Gorillapod and offerings such as Manfrotto’s Pocket MP3-D01 tripod. Today we present our review of the MP3-D01; a tripod small enough to carry around in your pocket or even leave attached to your...
We first saw Lego’s new Lord of the Rings set back in January at the Toy Fair. It’s safe to say that I was very excited at the time; so you can imagine the excitement when we were sent a set based on Shelob, Sam, Frodo and Gollum in the post. I immediately called dibs and set about building the set and after a short while this is the result. You have to admit this is geeky coolness at its best. How it looks As mentioned before this is based upon the scene when Gollum leads Sam and Frodo into Shelob’s lair which...
We test gadgets that can do almost anything; sometimes we review ones which are out of the ordinary and sometimes we get sent functional items. The Epson XP-102 all in one home printer, scanner and copier falls into that category but has a claim to fame; it’s the smallest that Epson has ever produced. Neil Wilson, product manager, Epson UK, certainly seems to think so: “Using the new Claria Home ink set, the Expression Home range allows you to benefit from the versatility of glossy, home photo printing and crisp, clear text output....
