When you think about it, the fact that we still use hulking big desks to work on is a bit strange. Could it be that The Edge changes all this in the future?
This is a new type of desk that was designed by Marc Rosenborg. He credits the inspiration for his creation to a visit to his daughter’s college dorm room. There, he noticed that a huge amount of space was taken up by a couple of desk’s that no-one actually used.
These days, many of us work or play on laptops or tablets, meaning that there is no real reason to have a big desk taking up so much room. With this in mind, The Edge was designed. It is now on Kickstarter and is described as a desk solution for a modern life.
The people who get in early to support the project will get a desk at $299, which is half of the expected retail price. Putting in more cash leads to you getting extras such as an accessory set. So what do you get with The Edge?
This is kind of like those kneeling chairs that first appeared a few years ago but never really got as popular as we expected them to be. However, in this case it also has a small desk fixed onto it. There is also a groove along the edge that can be used to snap on all sorts of different accessories.
Since the key concept here is to save space, it is no surprise to see that it is easy to fold away The Edge for easier storage. The desk part can also be turned around to portrait mode, giving a whole new way of using it for painting or drawing.
