Game publisher Electronic Arts will release its upcoming basketball game NBA Live 13 later this year, after failing to release NBA Elite 2011 less than two years ago. This new game will bring back the classic “Live” branding that it used before it was changed to “Elite.”
It was confirmed by Electronic Arts that NBA Live 13 will be launched in autumn, after setbacks made by its Elite title that led to its cancellation. The move made 2K Sports’ NBA 2K11 the only basketball simulator in the market for the year.
Earlier this week, NBA star Kyrie Irving outed the new game in a tweet, saying that he’s checking out the new game from EA Sports. Shortly after, the studio has made its announcement that the game is already under development.
Last year’s NBA Elite was pulled out from retailers due to the disappointing reception from fans and critics. Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello said that they cancelled it because they were not willing to “ship a product it wasn’t proud of and compete for marginal share.”
