Epson, one of the leading manufacturers of printers, has announced that AirPrint wireless printing for the Apple iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone will be supported by new models of Epson inkjet printers starting September 2011. The new AirPrint feature, allows Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to print documents wirelessly using Airprint-enabled printers without having to install the device’s drivers.

“We’re delighted users of Epson’s AirPrint-enabled printers will now be able to print directly from their iOS devices,” said Ian Cameron, general manager of global communications at Epson. “With AirPrint, no software or setup is required, so documents, photos and emails can be quickly and easily printed to any AirPrint-enabled Epson printer.”

The printing giant not only announced its compatibility with Airprint for Apple iOS devices, it also said that all of its major inkjet printers released from autumn will be compatible with Google Cloud Print.

“Epson is all about providing customers with the maximum possible value,” Cameron added. “Combining Epson’s state-of-the-art printers for enterprise and the home together with the options offered by Google Cloud Print, liberates busy Epson customers by allowing them to print whenever and from wherever they want.”

It’s about time another brand became iPad and iPhone compatible. It’s just a shame current models won’t be able to make use of the technology. That said there is an app for that 😉
