Social gaming giant Zynga has unveiled a new update for their insanely popular ‘Farmville’ game which is now played by over 44 million people worldwide. The English Countryside will be made available to any gamer who reach or surpass level 20. As you’d expect everything has been kept rather pleasant and simplistic – you’re getting the dream farm feel rather than modern day cultivation and pesticides etc.
The update draws on age old stereotypes and staple crops native to the Great British Isles. Expect to be growing King Edward Potatoes, Foxgloves and other crops that grow quicker than usual because of the fertile soil found in the UK (oh yes they even thought of that). You will be helping an English Duke whose village has fallen on hard times and is in need of repair – that’s where the players of the game step in.
Other new features include raising lambs, which you can name, keep or gift to friends and the addition of authentic buildings. Players will even be able to change their avatar to a more fitting country style if it takes their fancy.
Todd Arnold, Farmville’s GM said: “We’ve been blown away by the success of FarmVille and we wanted to find a way to give back to the game’s enthusiastic fans,” He added, “We’re constantly listening to the community’s feedback and we’re excited to add a new chapter to one of the most popular games of all time, while also giving a nod to its international success by setting it in the English countryside.”
