With all the iPhone 5 and iPad 2 news floating around hyperspace recently the highly anticipated iPhone Mini has got pushed to the side, until today when Bloomberg revealed that Apple is developing a shrunken version of their hugely popular Smartphone.

 “…people who have been briefed on the plans,” have revealed that the new handset will be one third smaller than the current iPhone 4. This could mean a handset measuring around 3 inches x 2 inches (or thereabouts) putting it slap bang in HP Veer and HTC Wildfire 2 territory.

This is not the first time news about a ‘baby’ iPhone has emerged with Apple denying the rumours, in fact dismissing the idea as they said adding another version of the iPhone would ‘dilute’ their premium product.

The report on Bloomberg also explained that their source had not seen the handset since last year suggesting that the idea may have been shelved. The handset would be considerably cheaper than the iPhone 4 coming in at around £124 ($200) if it goes to market. Analyst, Charlie Wolf Explained “Instead of targeting 25% of the global mobile-phone market, Apple would be going after 100%.”

The insider also revealed that Apple is working on technology that would allow iPhone users to connect to multiple wireless networks, utilising the fastest network at all times.
