France Telecom’s CEO says iPhone 5 Release Date on Oct 15th

A lot of people have been waiting for the answer to the ultimate question: When is the iPhone 5 coming Out? As far as we know, it will be released at the end of September to early October, rumoured dates include October 7th and October 21st. Now, you can add the date October 15th to the list of possible iPhone 5 release dates.

According to Stephane Richard, France Telecom’s chief executive officer, the iPhone 5 will be launched in France on October 15th. This news, which was first picked up by French Apple news site Mac4Ever, suggests that the new smartphone from Apple will be available on that date worldwide.

“If I believe what we heard, the iPhone 5 will be released on October 15th,” Richard said in a statement.

Assuming that the CEO’s comment is correct, the fifth-generation iPhone would be released on a Saturday, which is very surprising. Apple has a tradition of launching its new handsets on a Thursday or Friday, so the release falling on a Saturday is highly unlikely, but who knows?

Richard has been open about issues related to his business, previously discussing Apple’s plans to reducing the size of SIM cards in its devices. In January 2010, he also stated that Apple would reveal an iPad and while his claim that the device would include a webcam was false, he was right about that such a device existed.

If Apple does not release the iPhone 5 on October 7th, we should be watching out for it on October 15th. The release date is coming but to be honest no one but Apple really knows when.
