The gaming charts are out again and Toy Story 3 has taken the top spot from last week’s winner Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty for the all platform title. A bit of a reasonable game and a lot of stellar branding is all it takes to hit the top top it seems. Modern Warfare 2 is back at the top on the PS3 while the XBox 360 chart is still headed by Red Dead Redemption and the Wii’s most popular game is still Super Mario Galaxy 2.
XBox 360
In its 12th week in the charts, Red Dead Redemption is still at the top. Modern Warfare 2 has climbed back into 2nd place after an impressive 39 weeks in the charts and Toy Story 3 is all the way back in 7th on Microsoft’s console.
- 1 – (1) Red Dead Redemption
- 2 – (3) Modern Warfare 2
- 3 – (6) Sniper: Ghost Warrior
- 4 – (5) Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction
- 5 – (7) Battlefield: Bad Company 2
PS3
There’s been some shuffling around in the top 5 spots for the PS3 with last week’s number 1 Red Dead Redemption in 2nd and Modern Warfare 2 back up at the top of the pile. Toy Story 3 makes it into 3rd spot while there are no new entries in the whole of the top 10. The longest serving game in terms of time in the charts is Modern Warfare 2 thanks to one of the most engrossing and long lasting multiplayer franchies in existence.
- 1 – (3) Modern Warfare 2
- 2 – (1) Red Dead Redemption
- 3 – (2) Toy Story 3
- 4 – (5) Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11
- 5 – (6) Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Wii
Absolutely nothing has changed in the top 4 spots on the Nintendo console. Buyers are sticking by Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the best game accolade with Toy Story 3 holding a respectable 2nd position. In the whole top 10, places 5 and 6 swapped round and the same was true of places 7 and 8 but other than that there’s nothing new to report.
- 1 – (1) Super Mario Galaxy 2
- 2 – (2) Toy Story 3
- 3 – (3) LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4
- 4 – (4) New Super Mario Bros: Wii
- 5 – (6) Mario Kart Wii
Here’s hoping for something new to talk about next week!
