Those of you looking forward to Gears of War 3 might be interested to know that you could claim an additional bonus just by pre-ordering it through Game or Gamestation. The two retail giants are both offering some exclusive bonuses for people who purchase the third instalment via their stores and websites.
Much like previous releases Gears of War 3 will have a variety of editions, each with their own bonus material in a similar way to Call of Duty and Gran Turismo. The standard game will cost £49.99 £39.99, the limited edition £59.99 with the epic edition costing a monstrous £99.99. The best part is users who purchase any of these editions through game will gain exclusive access at some point during the three weeks of multiplayer beta tournaments.
This will include three additional multiplayer modes and four additional maps which will be running on dedicated servers to reduce lag time and make the mad cap action all that more stable and enjoyable.
You may recall a Facebook campaign sometime ago where fans got to select the theme for multiplayer maps, basically the two most popular where “Trenches” and “Old Town” which we think is a nice touch – more user generated content is definitely the way forward.
The Beta tournaments will begin on 25th April and run through to 15th May. Epic owners will get an extra week to try out the maps before it is rolled out to the other players, they will be the first to try the new Team Deathmatch mode on four new maps (Thrashball, Checkout, Trenches and Old Town).
But all Beta testers will be able to get their hands on some additional unlockable rewards and content. Just take a look at the list below:
Beta Tester Medal – Complete one match in the beta to unlock the Beta Tester medal, which will carry over to your gamer profile in the final game.
Thrashball Cole – Complete 50 matches in any game type to unlock the Thrashball Cole character variant in the beta. Once unlocked, complete 10 matches as Thrashball Cole during the beta and the character will carry over to your gamer profile in the final game. ·
Gold-Plated Retro Lancer – Show your ultimate Gears of War fandom by unlocking the Gold-Plated Retro Lancer. Complete 90 matches in any game type to unlock it for the beta, and score 100 kills with it once unlocked to carry the exclusive weapon skin over to your gamer profile in the final game. ·
Flaming Hammer burst – Complete one match by Sunday, 24 April and unlock this weapon variant. ·
Flaming Lancer – Complete one match during the week of 25 April and unlock this weapon variant. ·
Flaming Sawed-Off Shotgun – Complete one match during the week of 2 May to unlock this weapon variant. ·
Flaming Gnasher Shotgun – Complete one match during the week of 9 May to unlock this weapon variant
