Apple has filed a patent that could see them enter the 3D battle ground, perhaps on their iPhone and iPad in the near future. After having their patent for a 3D stereoscopic system granted Apple are now ready to take the leap forward if they so wish.
The patent was actually first applied for in 2006, way before 3D was mainstream and Apple look to step a huge leap forward by providing 3D without the need for glasses. And if all goes well it won’t look grainy and can be enjoyed from any angle – a trait that current glasses free technology can’t provide.
The patent also details technology that will allow viewers to watch different content on the same screen in 3D. Very futuristic.
Although the patent has just been granted don’t expect to see the tech anytime soon, we would dearly love it to be featured on Apple TV, iPhone or iPad in the near future but it looks like we will have to wait.
