Taiwanese handset manufacturer HTC is releasing the HTC Sensation XE, the first in a line of smartphones that features the Beats audio technology, in the UK next month.

The company claimed that the Sensation XE smartphone will feature a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and an extended battery that will boost the phone’s battery life and performance further than previous smartphones.

When it is used with the included Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear earphones, the mobile phone automatically switches to the Beats by Dr. Dre sound profile, which delivers music tracks tuned specifically for the earphones.

The HTC Sensation XE smartphone ships with an 8 GB or 16 GB microSD card and an exclusive Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear earphones that features a remote control, enabling the users to play, pause or skip through songs while the handset is in the pocket.

The Sensation XE will come with a 1730 mAh battery, one of the largest offerings from HTC as it tries to eliminate the short battery life problem of its handsets.

The handset also features a 4.3-inch qHD screen, an 8-megapixel camera and 4 GB of internal memory.

The new Beats by Dr. Dre-powered smartphone will be available in the UK on October 7, and is now priced at £614 on Amazon UK. It is also listed on Play.com for £599 and at Clove for only £492.

If you want another pair of the included Beats in-ear earphones, it can be purchased for more than £100, explaining the smartphone’s high price.
