Cupertino tech giant Apple will announce the much awaited iPhone 5 at a press conference that is scheduled on October 4th, according to a report by Pocket Gamer. An unnamed source said that the new Apple smartphone will be unveiled on October 4th and will go on sale “a week later.”
“This broadly fits with the movement of recent rumours, which peaked with a – since proven erroneous – 21st October release date, bought forward to a October 15th date, according to Orange CEO Stephane Richard,” according to the article written by Jon Jordan that was published by Pocket Gamer UK.
Since details of the iPhone 5 and alleged particulars of a cheaper iPhone 4S have been leaking lately, and by far, the company is expected to announce the two smartphones. It is also possible that a new iPod Touch, which has an integrated SIM card slot and 3G connectivity, may also be announced at the same event.
Early rumors claim that the fifth-generation iPhone is set for an early-September launch, but as the said release date approached, it started to look like the device’s launch was being pushed to October. Some are saying that the date October 5th has been chosen by the company to announce their new offerings for symbolic reasons – iPhone 5, iOS 5 and October 5 (5 – 5 – 5). Although the press event is planned for the 4th.
Apple’s expected announcement would be two days before Sprint’s Media Event, where the company will brief reporters on their strategy. If Sprint is going to get the iPhone 5, this event will let them give reporters time to get from California to New York and get the latest on what they are planning.
