Leaked iPhone 4S casing suggests antenna changes

It is believed that Apple will be launching two new iPhone models this year, one of which will be the highly-anticipated iPhone 5. The other one is believed to be a cheaper and less powerful iPhone 4, dubbed by the media as the “iPhone 4S.” The iPhone 4S will serve as the company’s smartphone for the developing market.

It is said that the iPhone 4S will resemble the current iPhone 4 in function and aesthetic.

Now MacRumors and iPatchiPods have posted photos of the new iPhone 4S, which clearly shows a different case design compared to the current one. The antenna rim has two breaks on both sides at the bottom of the device. The Verizon version of the iPhone 4 has two breaks at the top. Reports say that the breaks are to accommodate both the CDMA (Verizon) and GSM (AT&T) network technologies. Also, it is believed that the new device will have the capability of handling both networks right out of the box.

Another thing that is worth noting is the fact that the mite switch and the volume rockers is located on the same side as the iPhone 4. Other case designs that have been leaked in the past suggested that they might be separated. The bottom piece also has no indication of where the home button might be placed, which suggests that the company might be changing the button’s design.

With the leak of these new photos, it is certain that Apple will be launching two new iPhones this autumn. That’s if they are real 😉

Is there room for a new budget iPhone and iPhone 5 with such a similar release date?
