After the roaring success of the Lego Star Wars, Batman, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones the Lego brand has made the leap to the seven seas in the wildly popular Pirates of the Caribbean format. Players will be able to take control of Captain Jack Sparrow and his motley crew of pirate on the up-and-coming Nintendo 3DS when it goes on sale next month.
“The Nintendo 3DS lets players experience a LEGO game like never before, and allows us to add new depth to the Pirates of the Caribbean universe,” said Adam Sussman, senior vice president of publishing, Disney Interactive Studios. “The game incorporates new features such as the Pirate Duel system and high resolution 3D effects to deliver fun and clever game play fans of the LEGO series expect. “
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game will feature some of the most memorable scenes and action from the films allowing players to take control of over 70 characters. Like previous games humour has been thrown in by the barrel full, even the trailer below includes a few funny moments.
Another interesting addition on the 3DS is the ‘Pirate Dual’ mode which allows would be pirates to dual with other 3DS owners in a local format utilising the street pass feature. The winners will scoop coins that will allow them to purchase exclusive content and items, they will also gain experience points so they can ‘rank up’ to earn extra health, new moves, and elevated titles and even unlock new characters.
For those of you worried about eye strain, never fear as you can also play the game in 2D too. The game will also be released on the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and PC so everyone can get in on the building action.
