When it comes to high quality resolution on a phone then the LG Retina Display on the iPhone is widely regarded to be a market leader, but what about tablets and other bigger gadgets?
Well, it turns out that both Samsung and LG are to present high density screen for tablet devices in the next few days for us to compare, an interesting prospect for the iPad 3 especially if the specs look as good in the flesh as they do on paper.
The Samsung entry is going to be a 300 ppi, 10.1 incher of an LCD panel and the resolution which is being talked about is an impressive 2,560 x 1,600. It is expected to be available later on this year.
Meanwhile over at the LG ranch, there is going to be a wide range of AH-IPSD products. This funky little acronym stands for Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching and it promises an “ultra high resolution” performance. Less is known about their technical specifications but we do know that panel sizes include 3.5, 4.5, 7, 55 and a whopping great 84 incher. They are all said to boast a ppi which is higher than the naked human eye can register.
We can expect the battle of the high definition screens to heat up with the showcasing of some of these screens in the forthcoming SID 2011 so keep your eyes peeled for more info as it develops and these models get tried, tested and rated.
Both screens are top contenders for the Apple iPad 3, one of the hot rumours is that Apple will equip their 3rd generation tablet with a retina display and if either of these two are efficient enough they could be included.

yes, they do indeed. I love my iPhone 4 display as much as my Dell XPS 15 1080p Full HD screen. Downside is, you don’t want to go back to your work PC and mobile with lower resolution screens.
