Korean tech company LG Electronics will be starting a new era for scanners with its new LSM-100. The LSM-100 may look just like an ordinary mouse, but it also has a built-in scanner. The company incorporated technology specifically created for this new device, as the LSM-100 offers users a set of functions that blend convenience and innovation.

The LSM-100 scanner feature is far more convenient than traditional scanners. To scan an image, users have to hold the “Smart Scan” button on the left side of the device, then simply swipe the mouse over the image to be scanned.

The scanned image can be saved in a number of file types, including JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, PDF, DOC, XLS and DPC. The image can also be dragged and dropped into any application of choice.

“The LSM-100 is also a top-end mouse,” LG Electronics stated in the device’s press release. “The laser sensor is accurate and durable, and the stylish design lends itself to easy, smooth motions as well as providing an ergonomic, comfortable grip.”

The LSM-100 also has LG’s Optical Character Recognition technology, which can convert scanned texts into digital text files that can be edited by the user. This will eliminate the need to retype text from printed copies, saving a great deal of time.

No pricing details for the LSM-100 has been released by LG yet, but the company said that it intends to launch the product in North America, Europe and other markets in September.
