Building on the POD line of multi-effects pedals, Line 6 unveiled on Monday the Mobile In Adapter and the Mobile Pod app for the iPad and iPhone. The Mobile In Adapter lets guitarists plug their electric guitar into Apple’s iOS devices.
The Line 6 Mobile POD app, which is downloadable from the App Store for free, is the company’s effects and amp modeling software. It features a collection of famous guitar amplifiers, cabinets and effects that include distortion, reverb, delay and chorus.
“Mobile In and Mobile POD turn your iPhone or iPad into a fully functioning Line 6 POD multi-effect device complete with tweakable tones, simultaneous effects and legendary Line 6 guitar amp and effect modeling,” said Marcus Ryle, Line 6 Co-founder and SVP of New Business Development.
Line 6 has pioneered digital modeling technology and released the first POD multi-effects processor in 1998. The device has introduced guitarists to digital platform, which gives them access to a number of effect and amp models with one device.
Speaking about the problems with other iOS guitar processors, Ryle said, “Mobile In is designed to be the best possible guitar tone solution for mobile devices. Other iOS guitar adaptors are rife with issues like headphone feedback, latency and poor sound quality. Mobile In solves all of these issues to deliver the best iOS guitar playing experience.”
The app includes 64 amp and effects models, which include the 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb, 1985 Mesa-Boogie Mark IIc+ (Drive Channel), 1968 Marshall Plexi (100 watt), 1989 Soldano SLO Super Lead Overdrive, and many more.
Users can build their own presets using any combination of amps, cabinets and effects. Pricing for the Mobile In Adapter has not yet been announced.
