News and speculations about a 2011 refresh of the MacBook Air have been circulating around the internet and clues have been pointing to its mid-July release. It was reported that Best Buy stops shipping of MacBook Airs and just recently, it was revealed that Amazon are running very low on stocks. This points that a new MacBook Air would soon be launched.
Reports say that the 2011 MacBook Air differs slightly from the 2010 model, replacing the latter’s Mini Dispay port with Thunderbolt, which will please a lot of people as it is the device’s one of the most anticipated additions. Apple will also choose from Intel’s low power versions of Core i5 and i7 processors with a speed that ranges from 1.7 to 1.8 GHz. Unlike the refresh of the MacBook Pro, the 2011 MacBook Air will use two cores.
The new MacBook Air is reported to have no differences when it comes to looks, but it is rumored to have a black aluminum finish version.
Another clue is that Apple usually launches new products on a Tuesday, which would probably happen on July 12 or 19. This means that people will be able to get a new Macbook Air in two to three weeks.
According to 9to5Mac, the updated Sandy Bridge Mac Minis and the new Mac Pro will follow the refresh of MacBook Air later this month.
