The BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900, which was just released recently, has generated some much-needed buzz for its maker Research in Motion. From the smartphone’s improved user interface to the new BlackBerry 7 mobile operating system, keyboard, the 640 x 480 touchscreen and the 1.2 GHz processor that runs it, the Bold Touch 990 is still a very solid option for smartphone users.

Now, it appears that a new BlackBerry smartphone has popped up and is making waves online. The new device sports a futuristic-looking QWERTY keyboard and a strange looking case. The BlackBerry phone, which looks nothing like any other RIM phone we’ve seen before, appeared in photos on the MaxPDA forum and also has a hands-on walkthrough video posted in YouTube.

According to reports, the phone is an unreleased prototype of the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900. The specifications are the same, it even runs the BlackBerry 7 OS and has the same physical buttons in the same places.

According to BlackBerryOS, it is a special edition Research in Motion phone called “Knight,” and is created especially for Porsche owners. It has the inscription “Proceeding” written on top of it.

Engadget reports that they have spoken to the source of the handset in Beijing. It turns out that the source has already sold three of these mysterious handsets. The seller claims that this smartphone will be making its way to the market once it “gets the diamond treatment.”
