It’s all go in the world of gaming and consoles today. Nintendo sales have been hard hit by the imminent release of Sony’s new Playstation Move and the Microsoft Kinect motion sensing controllers. Nintendo posted a surprising loss in profits for the quarter despite price slashes leading to increased Wii sales. The immediate future is a little on the shaky side as they will soon have major competition even for their flasgship console.
However, there could potentially be some good news for the Japanese gaming giant as they have announced the date when they will be announcing the release date and price of the UK Nintendo 3DS (yes, we know it’s convoluted to release a release release date but this is the console gaming world we’re talking about). September 29th is the date that all gamers will turn their attention to Nintendo once again as they will let us all know the big details for the UK release of the Nintendo 3DS portable 3D gaming device (no glasses needed, don’t you know?)
Bad news for the manufacturer, however, is that Sony made its own announcement telling the world that the Playstation move will be released in that same month of September and giving us the good news regards the pricing for the device. Gamers will need both the Playstation Eye camera and the Playstation Move controller bought individually for £25 and £35 or as part of a starter kit for £50 which will also include 9 playable demos.
Not wanting to feel left out, Microsoft created its own bit of news by releasing a teaser trailer for Halo: Reach and showing off the fact that celebrities like Rio Ferdinand can’t wait to get their hands on it. Celebrity endorsements for big games aren’t that unusual but football stars generally stick to football games.
Can’t wait for the next instalment of the halo franchise?
Will you be investing in the Kinect or the Move?
