The release of the brand new Nintendo 3DS / 3DS XL in Asian markets made it seem certain that Brits and Americans would also be able to buy one this Christmas as well.
However, the word from the Japanese gaming giant is that there will be no release of the new version of the gaming device in the UK or the US this year.
It might seem obvious that the new Nintendo 3Ds should get released everywhere that people might want to buy it. Having said that, the firm confirms that sales of the original 3DS are still high enough in the UK and the US for them to keep on selling it over the festive period.
Market Differences
Satoru Iwata is the president of Nintendo and he said that there are differences between the Japanese gaming market and the rest of the world. These differences he defined as being “their stages of popularisation” of the device and the “market characteristics”. He pointed out that the bigger sales potential of the US and Europe hasn’t led to bigger 3DS sales than in Japan. He, therefore, summed up that the popularisation of the gaming device is still at an earlier stage than in Japan.
On the other hand, falling sales of the 3Ds in Japan has led to the need to bring out the new version there in time for this Christmas. Close to 17 million sales of the 3DS have been achieved in Japan, in just 3 and a half years. The new version has a second analogue stick, interchangeable front plates and an improved battery life.
Would you like the chance to buy a new Nintendo 3Ds for this Christmas?

From everything I've read, the dramatically improve 3D effect in every aspect of that, is the most noticible improvement of the New Nintendo 3DS.
