Have you been tempted by a smartwatch but not yet made the plunge? If that is the case then maybe you will be glad that you held off.
One possible new solution for those people who want to get connected but don’t want to lose their current watch comes in the shape of the IWC Connect.
Rather than being a smartwatch, it is a device that you add onto your existing watch in order to give it smart capabilities.
For example, you could use it count the calories you use up, see how far you have travelled or to track your sleeping habits. It doesn’t adversely affect the look of the watch either, as it is just a little thing that you use on the opposite of your wrist from the watch face.
Other Models on Their Way
This model comes from IWC Schaffhausen but it isn’t the only gadget like this on the market just now or coming soon. Another example comes with the Montblanc Urban Speed e-Strap. This strap has a screen built into it and allows you to use it to control your phone or even to track it down when it less than 30 metres away.
Another company looking into the use of smart straps like this is Pebble. They are said to have invested a million dollars into the project and should have one of these straps on their newest watch.
Of course, not all of these smart straps will have the same level of functionality. However, overall it seems like a very good idea for adding some smart features to your life without the need to buy a new watch to do it.
Would you prefer a smartwatch or a smart strap?
I would much rather prefer a smart strap over a smart watch! The technology used is outstanding on both gadgets but the smart strap really does look impressive! Thanks for sharing!
Smart watch straps look nice. However, there is nothing new in its features. It will be good choice for those having fascination for smart watches.
Smart watch strap looks cool. I think I will give it a try.
Smart strap after smart watch, this is a welcome sign. There are many who love to see their prized watches strapped. And this strap gives them a chance to mix that up with some ‘Smartness’. It also looks impressive. I would love to see more players entering this segment.
