It seems the wait for Gran Turismo 5 is finally over, well nearly, Sony have announced today that their world famous driving game is set to return after a four year break since GT4. The official UK release date has been set for Wednesday 24th November 2010.

Kazunori Yamauchi, the head genius behind Gran Turismo admitted the games development had not been plain sailing, understandable on a game of this size. He said “Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Programme!”

That is quite an admission and a somewhat confident comparison, he went on to explain the game needs to please loyal fans which was the main reason for the delay – no pressure then! He finished his speech in a similar fashion, “I can only apologise to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed.”

With the amount on offer in the game we think Yamauchi might be right, players will be able to tear up 71 courses with a mind boggling 1,031 of the hottest cars ever seen in a GT game.

Will this be big enough to knock Black Ops off the all time sales throne?
