Samsung have announced that they will be releasing an entry level Samsung Tocco in May, the new mobile phone is called the Samsung Tocco Lite (though it has previously been reported as being the Samsung S5230). The new Samsung Tocco Lite, is a full size touchscreen mobile phone that offers a very similar spec to the LG Cookie and comes with less rather than more of the standard Samsung Tocco features.
There is no indication of price but it is being reported that this phone will be a budget Tocco but until Samsung release an indication on price it is difficult to confirm if this is the case. Judging by the spec however it is very evident that this phone should command a lot less in the way of price tag. The Tocco Lite features a 3.2 megapixel camera which is expected to have flash, a full 3.1” touchscreen, TouchWiz interface, GSM network capability (but 3G or WiFi not supported), GPRS + EDGE, 240 x 400 pixels and 262k Colours, Bluetooth, Java as well as an integrated multimedia player. Samsung have ensured that with the inclusion of the TouchWiz interface which uses the latest ‘widgits’ technology that there is the ability to access social networking sites such as Facebook.
The Italian translation of Tocco has been reported by some as meaning touch, and this phone does require you to touch the screen to operate the various functions. However the literal translation of ‘tocco’ is touched or mad, so lets hope that it isn’t a omen that either the phone makers are mad to release it or that the purchaser is made to part with the cash! We are sure that this will not be the case and that the lack of 3G or WiFi will not detract from the Tocco Lite too much.
