IFA is well under way and as expected there’s already been a mass of interest in 3D being displayed by both exhibitors and punters. Interest has peaked especially in the 3D home projector from Sony that claims to bring the beauty of 3D cinema into the home.

The VPL-VW90ES 3D projector is Sony’s first foray into this particular segment of the market and it means that you can enjoy 3D films, while wearing funky glasses, without having to worry about getting up and going for a pee halfway through the film. You also don’t have to spend the kids’ inheritance just to get a hot dog and some popcorn or suffer at the hands of other people’s screaming children and obnoxious mobile phones.

The projector uses the same kind of technology that Sony has perfected in its 3D TV range and is designed to feel natural for the eyes; hopefully meaning less headache thanks to the minimised cross talk.

Sony VPL-VW90ES - 3D Home Cinema Experience Coming In November

3D is projected in full 1080p high definition and it will attempt to basically upscale 2D movies into 3D equivalents although the success of this remains to be seen. As well as watching films and other media on the projector you can also use it to further increase the immersion into gaming worlds playing titles like Gran Turismo 5 projected onto massive screens or straight onto your wall.

The VW90 will be available in mainland Europe in November of this year and Sony claims it is easy to put up and install. It can also be personalised to work in rooms of any size and setting and it can even be customised depending on the type of content and runs at just 22db so is very quiet.

Will you be playing Gran Turismo 5 on your wall?

Have you got the 3D TV bug like the rest of the world seems to?
