The release of the new Huawei P9 is notable for one thing more than anything else; the innovative and interesting camera setup that it features.
The phone itself is good looking and the impressive battery life is a bonus worth considering. However, it is in the camera setup that the phone company seems to be placing most of its hopes.
Basically, the rear of the P9 phone has 2 cameras on it. Both have 12 megapixels and have been developed and certified by Leica.
Interestingly, one of the cameras is monochrome and the other is RGB. According to Huawei, this will ensure a better quality of black and white image and a vastly improved performance in terms of capturing light.
Photos Look Best on a PC
So far, reviews of the P9’s cameras have been mixed, with not everyone impressed by the images it produces. Huawei say that the results are best seen on a PC screen, so perhaps it may suit you if you tend to transfer your photos to the computer regularly.
The Huawei P9 has sleek and attractive aluminium design that doesn’t come up to the standard of the latest iPhones or Samsung Galaxy models but still looks pretty good. The 5.1 inch full HD screen is good to look at without being quite as sharp as on the very best smartphones.
The internal storage space is 32GB and the operating system is Android Marshmallow with Emotion UI. The UK release price is £449.
