The Raspberry Pi has proved to be a genuine revolution in computing, as it has allowed people to buy bare bones computers for next to no money and one was even taken into space by astronaut Tim Peake.
The latest generation of the Pi has added some important features to the winning formula. It now comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for the first time, increasing its versatility and connectivity greatly.
This latest version is called the Raspberry Pi 3 and it has just been put on sale. As well as those additional connectivity options mentioned earlier, it also now comes with a 64 bit processor and promises the best performance yet in this ranger of tiny computers.
Faster and More Technically Advanced
Claire Doyle is the global head of Raspberry Pi and she said this is an “even faster, technically advanced board” than the ones that have gone before it. She also said that it has a “higher level of performance” than any other generation of Pi already out there. The launch has been timed to coincide with the 4th anniversary of the initial appearance of the very first Pi model.
As you probably guessed by now, the price of the Raspberry Pi is still incredibly low. The official price given out $35, which is around £25. It seems certain that we will see this new model involved in even more exciting hobby projects and interesting uses then with older models.
Are you tempted to buy one of these new Raspberry Pi computers, or are you waiting for a future generation with even more features?
