The Sandals That Refresh (a Little)

So, you are on the beach with your flip-flop sandals and you have a raging thirst but nothing to drink. We’ve all been there at some point. A serious design flaw in most types of beach wear is that it provides you with few decent and hygienic places to store drinks. You’ve never thought of putting some refreshing liquids in your footwear before now, have you?

A Secret Stash of Drink

flaskThe frankly unlikely combination of sandals and drink is now possible due to a product called the Reef Dram Sandal. The idea is simple; when you are feeling thirst you simply slip off the flip flop, unscrew the lid and pour the contents down your throat. These look like normal, dry sandals and are said to be pretty comfortable as well. No one else is likely to even realise that you are packing some serious drinks in your footwear, which is just the way we like it. If you are using them to sneak drink into a bar even most observant doorman isn’t going to work out your plan.

The only drawback to this smart idea is that only a few very small amount of liquid can fit into your sandals. 1.5 fluid ounces in each one to be exact, which isn’t going to give you a very strong drink if it is alcohol you have in your flip flops. This means that it is more of a novelty rather than a serious thirst quenching idea. They are probably best used to amuse and surprise friends at a party. They cost $45 online, which is about £28.

What do you think? A neat idea, or a whacky gadget gone too far?
