We are sure that you, like us, have often lamented the lack of pumpkin related gadgets around. Maybe you have also frowned occasionally due to the lack of publicity the classic puzzle game Tetris receives these days. Well, you can sit back and enjoy some squash based Tetris fun now thanks to the Pumpktris.
What pray tell is the Pumpktris? Would it make it easier to picture it if we said that it involves a hollowed out pumpkin which you can play Tetris on? No, probably not. But that is exactly what it is.
A Joystick Stem
Ok then, a chap called Nathan Pryor decided that hollowing out a pumpkin and adding in enough gadgetry to let it double as a low tech Tetris game was a good way to spend a few hours. It sounds weird and frankly it is weird. The innards of the large hollowed out piece of fruit (or is it a vegetable? Who knows?) include 128 LEDs, 8 batteries and some heat shrink tubing in there. The stem of the pumpkin acts as the joystick – yes, it is all true – and hours of fun are virtually guaranteed.
If you haven’t played Tetris for a while then this sounds like a good way of doing so, and if you haven’t eaten pumpkin pie for a while either than why not do both things at the one time?
The work to build it took around 12 hours and we can’t wait to see who has a go at putting Angry Birds on a tomato or Pacman on a kiwi fruit.
