Players who are holding off buying the new Assassin’s Creed: Revelation in anticipation of playing the game on the Nintendo Wii U next year doesn’t have to wait. Yves Guillemot of Ubisoft revealed that Wii U will be getting a different Assassin’s Creed game.
Chronologically, Wii U’s Assassin’s Creed game will be the next game in the series.
Here’s what Guillemot said in his interview with Aftonbladet, a Swedish website (translated by Eurogamer.se):
“We saw something about a new Assassin’s Creed for Wii U. What can you say about that?” the website asked.
“Our next edition of Assassin’s will be in a Wii U version,” replied Guillemot.
“Assassin’s Creed: Revelations?”
“No, not Revelations. For the future.”
“So it’s Assassin’s Creed III? Or is it something else?
“I can’t tell you that.”
Some speculated that “for the future” means that the Wii U version of the game is set after Revelations.
Revelations continues the story of Desmond in the modern day, which follows the events of the Assassins Creed: Brotherhood.
The Wii U version of Assassin’s Creed was announced last month in E3, with Ubisoft’s Quebec studio working on the game.
Reports say that the touch screen will display an on-screen map and an interactive database that will enable faster weapon selection. It will also the game’s eagle vision and will display hidden puzzles.
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is set to be launched for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 15 this year.
