London-based mobile carrier Vodafone has put up a teaser page in its Australian site, hinting users about “this year’s biggest smartphone release,” which it says is “coming soon to Vodafone.”
Tech news site Boy Genius Reports spotted the page and it suggested that it’s a teaser for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5, which is expected to be unveiled next week.
The details regarding the smartphone are non-existent. The page just shows a red cloth covering a mobile phone along with the text that read “End the rumours.” We are unsure what the company’s definition of soon is, but if we are to believe the latest rumors, we are going to see the iPhone 5 as early as next week.
Vodafone began carrying Apple iPhones in 10 countries in 2008. The deal marked the first time the Cupertino tech giant started selling its iPhone via two operators in the same market. Vodafone currently stocks the iPhone 4 and it also carries the iPad 2.
It is pretty obvious that the carrier hints that the new iPhone 5 is on the way. They should have flashed the photo on its website, saying that “this year’s much-awaited release of the iPhone 5 coming soon.” This also confirms that Vodafone will carry the iPhone 5 in Australia.
The iPhone 5 is expected to have a larger display, and a bigger and thinner body. It is also reported to sport an 8-megapixel camera and will run on the A5 processor. It is also thought to launch along side iOS 5 which will bring a number of powerful new features to both the iPhone 5, iPad and previous iPhones.
