Asus have only just taken the wraps off the Eee Pad Transformer and people are already looking ahead to future models. It seems that Apple aren’t the only brand to suffer from sequel envy as a leak reveals that the Asus Eee Pad will be refreshed in 2012 and will run the hotly anticipated Windows 8 operating system.

The information was accidentally leaked by an Asus employee at this years Computex conference which was promptly reported on French site Les Numeriques. The employee revealed that the Transformer 2 would remain loyal to Android but would also be available with Windows 8 too.

Like all technology sequels, the Transformer 2 will be thinner, lighter and quicker than the current version. If reports are true it will be a cross between the current model and the much thinner Eee Slider tablet. It will still utilize the detachable tablet and come with a base which contains a keyboard, input ports and an additional battery.

Full specifications and details, including an official acknowledgment of the device are yet to be seen as the rep didn’t seem to know many details about the T2. We are certain that the second incarnation will be equally as popular as the current model though.
