Call of Duty: Black Ops Players Log 68000 Years of Game Play

Call of Duty: Black Ops is undoubtedly popular, it has smashed records across the globe and continues to dominate the UK gaming charts ahead of blockbuster games such as Gran Turismo 5 and Assassins Creed: Brotherhood.

However without numbers it’s hard to quantify just how popular the game has been thus far; thankfully Activision has released some figures to put the games stranglehold on the market into perspective. They said ” players [of COD: Black Ops] have logged 600 million hours of game play, equivalent to 68,000 years”.

The monumental amount of game play has been racked up by a huge number of players, Activision say more people have played the game than the worldwide viewing figures of the Finale of Lost – an impressive achievement.

Online play more popular despite glitches

The game has even taken on Facebook, on average people spend 55 minutes on the world’s largest social networking site compared the average of 87 minutes Black Ops owners spend playing online each day.

CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg commented “Call of Duty has in many ways become one of the world’s most engaged social networks.”

Have you played more hours on Black Ops than you did on Modern Warfare 2?

cmon with all the money made from this game its bloody ridiculous that we are getting so many errors. I have purchased every single cod and if this isn,t sorted b4 the next one comes out then me and a lot of others will be seriously thinking about moh !!!!!

You'll be thinking about Medal of Honor? Seriously? If you think Medal of Honor is less buggy than Black Ops, you've lost your flippin mind. I dare you to go rent it.

Considering the fact that Einstein never put socks on because it saved him a few seconds everyday… we as a human race are just wasting our intellect on a fictional world … 68,000 years? Imagine what we could accomplish if we put them 68,000 years into something worthwhile … what a farse … and the government just loves to keep you busy … open your eyes!!!!!!

i agree with utzmc, how ridiculous that we are spending so much time playing games! we should be taking our kids out to play with kites or go for walks. Or trying to get a girlfriend to have kids with, i know so many people that just sit and play games, getting fatter and fatter and never meeting any girls at all!

no wonder we are all getting so stupid, endless shopping the only exercise we get, buying more and more entertainment.

read a book, go running, live life while you can, play a bit of call of duty but only once a week or you will turn off the console one day and realise you are old, overweight stupid broke and alone with just a high rank in video games!

Honestly, I have played less time on Black Ops then what I had with MW2 at around this time. Why? So much other games that are good. Another factor, I already obtained all the trophies/achievements for the game.

Medal of Honor had less lag than BO now when i had MOH. I got all the trophies for it and traded it in. Zombies is fun when you have a group of friends going. BO is fun, just as fun as MW2.

But im busy with GT5, The Fight, Sports Champions that i dont get to play with BO much like MW2.

It's called entertainment. I have a girlfriend, planning on kids and have a place at college, and still play on games. To say "we all will get fat etc" is ridiculous.
