Apple will be unveiling the iPad 3, the company’s upcoming tablet, next month, according to a post in Apple news blog iMore.
Rene Ritchie of iMore reported that Apple is planning to announce the new iPad on March 7 in an event in San Francisco. Ritchie has cited sources “who have been reliable in the past.”
The report also stated the tablet’s specs, saying that it will feature a quad-core Apple A6 chip and 4G LTE networking. Some sources say that the upcoming iPad will have a retina display (2048 x 1536 pixels), which will enable it to display four times as many pixels as the iPad 2.
The move to a quad-core system-on-a-chip will enable the iPad to display images with increased detail while not requiring developers to rewrite their apps. Also, Apple is known to introduce a new processor for every iPad they launch, just like the A5 on the iPad 2.
A separate report by the Wall Street Journal said that the iPad 3 will come with 4G LTE connectivity, which is included in the wishlist of the device’s users. It added that AT&T and Verizon will be selling these tablets.
One thing that drives Apple from 4G LTE connectivity is battery life, as rival Android tablets supper from poor performance of its battery.
Do you agree that we will be seeing a new iPad on March 7th?
