Apple iPhone owners who are eagerly awaiting iOS 4.3 have been receiving small snippets of information over the last few weeks, the updated iOS will reportedly bring app based subscriptions, possibly do away with the home button and hopefully bring some bug fixes for the alarm issues, all useful but not that exciting.
A new discovery in the iOS 4.3 code points towards online gaming integration with Apple TV, which if true could be much like Microsoft’s OnLive gaming platform – this is a much more interesting inclusion for the upcoming OS update. So what’s the evidence?
New strings of code mentioning ATVGames (Apple TV Games) and ATVThunder have been discovered in the iOS 4.3 by developers. ATVThunder has been speculated as being the controller device that will communicate between the iPhone/iPad and Apple TV.
[singlepic id=157 w=320 h=240 float=left]The code also revealed leader board integration and game schedules, features akin to the iOS Game Center, both of which look to be on the way to Apple TV with syncing to iOS devices. This could mean the whole catalogue of iOS games might become available via the Apple TV box – suddenly small screen gaming could become big screen, all controlled via the iPhone.
The expected release date of iOS 4.3 is Monday 14th February, basically all should be revealed in a couple of days and Apple owners will be counting down the minutes to see what’s included.
What would you like to see? Does the Game center add on sound like a good idea to you?
