Mad Catz and the Major League Gaming are teaming up to target professional and hardcore gamers with its new line of Major League Gaming controllers.
On Monday, Mad Catz unveiled the Major League Gaming Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition and the Major League Gaming Pro-Circuit Controller, which the company described as “professional.” Both controllers feature the branding of MLG, one of the biggest professional gaming leagues in North America.
These professional video game controllers can be used with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 gaming consoles. The new line of professional-quality controllers will have its public unveiling on August 26 to 28 at the MLG Pro Circuit at the Raleigh Convention Center.
“Our new range of MLG products demonstrate our continued ability to produce highly specialized gaming products for passionate consumers.” said the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. Darren Richardson. “We are very excited to work with MLG, the world’s largest competitive gaming organization on a project which continues in the tradition of our highly successful range of Tournament Edition Arcade Fightsticks.”
The MLG Pro-Circuit Controller uses Mad Catz’s ProModule system, which enables components to be swapped. The Pro-Circuit Controller comes with two directional pads (one styled after Xbox 360’s d-pad and one style after the PS3’s), four analog sticks, adjustable weights a case and customizable faceplates.
The MLG Gaming Arcade FightStick is a much simpler controller, which was designed specifically for arcade games. It is very similar to the Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Fightstick that was also released by Mad Catz.
According to the product’s press release, the new line of controllers will be shipped in time for holiday 2011.
